What began as a dream quickly turned into a challenging ordeal. Fueled by my passion for education and a desire to make a difference, I embarked on a journey to transform the real estate experience for others.
It was supposed to be one of the most exciting times in our lives, a huge achievement after saving up and working hard for years. My wife and I were finally buying our first home. However, our experience was far from what I imagined. Our real estate agent left us no more informed at the end of our transaction than we were at the beginning, which was incredibly frustrating. With my love for teaching, I’ve always placed a high value on education, and this experience highlighted a significant gap in the service we received.
Standing in the foyer of our new home, feeling both excited and disillusioned, I turned to my wife and said, “I believe I could do this better.” It wasn’t just about our experience but about helping others through the process. That moment was a turning point for me, sparking a determination to improve the real estate process for others.
From a young age, my dad instilled in me values that I didn't fully appreciate until I was older. He was a very good man, and although we weren't wealthy, he always ensured we had what we needed. It wasn't until I matured that I recognized the depth of his wisdom. He taught me that there are no shortcuts to success and happiness in life. This lesson came from observing his tireless work ethic, even though I knew money was tight at times.
This upbringing significantly shaped my perspective, especially as I ventured into the real estate industry. My background gave me a deep empathy for people who are coming to me in need of guidance, support and advocacy to achieve their dreams. Right away, I quit my full-time job and dove headfirst into this new career; however, just a month after making this leap, my wife lost her job. As one could imagine the stress of starting a new career just got turned to the max. It was a true sink-or-swim moment, but I was committed to making it work, fueled by a belief in my ability to make a meaningful difference.
Those first few months were a whirlwind of sleepless nights and relentless work, driven by both necessity and a deep-seated desire to establish myself in a competitive field. Without a direct family background in real estate or a network in the industry, I relied heavily on my own efforts and the relationships I began to build with mentors.
Despite the steep learning curve and the initial financial uncertainty, I focused heavily on educating my clients, leveraging my background in teaching to enhance their understanding of the real estate process. This approach paid off, allowing me to navigate through the ups and downs of the market and eventually stabilize my career in real estate. Now, with a daughter, Aerabella, I see the value in those years of hard work more than ever. It has afforded us stability and a way to ensure she is always provided for.
What keeps me passionate about my work in real estate is the joy it brings me. I love every aspect of my job, which is why I often find myself working long hours. It's not just a career for me; it's a calling that aligns with the values my father taught me—hard work, dedication and a genuine concern for others. These principles not only guide my professional path but enrich every interaction I have, making every day fulfilling.
In 2022, I started Elevated Marketing LLC, a real estate marketing company designed to help other realtors better serve their clients through digital and online marketing, and in 2023, I started the Living in North Alabama Team with a mission of improving the industry and setting high standards for what clients expect from their REALTOR®.
When not working, I spend most of my time with my wife and daughter, serving my church through volunteer work and enjoying nature hiking, kayaking and scuba diving!
I've learned that it often requires creativity and hard work to help people achieve their dream of homeownership, particularly those who may be in a more complicated situation. I firmly believe in giving everyone a fair chance because if I can be the difference between someone renting and becoming a homeowner, that reward will always be worth it!
